Dodge burn and filters

I used the dodge and burn to add light to the statues face. I couldn't seem to get the lines out of the face from the burning so after I used the dodge and burn application, I smudged the face around the edges to make it a little bit smoother.

In this photo I used the photocopy filter to adjust the shading of the picture. I had to adjust the sharpen of the image to make it visible, when it first filtered there was no visible image

In this photo I used the old photo filter. I thought it would come out more yellowed like the one in the tutorial, but it came out more like a newspaper clipping. I think that it is still interesting.

  1. I am psyched to see that you are exploring and experimenting. It is the continuous pursuit of the unknown that is going to eventually give you the finest results in your work. Keep exploring and discovering new things. Keep up the great work!

  2. One of the toughest things to get out of a photograph is trying to lighten an area that is dark. If an area is too light or too dark, there is not a lot of information there to work with, and the result will be just an exaggeration of the lack of detail. With that said, as we get better and better cameras, this may not be a problem in the future. Again, keep up the great work.

  3. I really like the old photo filter. I used it as one of mine and it came out really well. I like how you lightened the face on that statue. Looks like they came out pretty well.

  4. I love your last photo with the old filter. It is AWESOME. It reminds me of something my parents would show me when explaining the house they grew up in as a child. It has that old feeling with the american flag. I think it turned out super well.

  5. The last photo is perfect! I love taking pictures of flags (I even used one for last weeks assignment) and the way you edited this photo makes it so much more interesting. Like you said it looks like an old news paper clipping and it works so well for the content of the picture.

  7. The picture of the flag is great. You did a great job editing it. I also like the mailbox wish the black and white was a bit crisper but it came out well.
