Photo story
- A trip to the grocery store

In the first photo I took a picture of a grocery list in the macro setting. Once I got the picture I wanted I added a soft glow filter to give the writing more detail and make them more crisp.
In the second photo I took a landscape photo of the store. I wanted to get both foreground and background to add good composition. I also adjusted the contrast and color to bring out the flowers in the foreground as well as the color in the building.
In the third photo I cloned the barn in the field in the back ground out of the photo. Using the cloning tool I also add trees in areas to fill in the space that was left by the barn not being there anymore. Once that was complete I used the smudging tool to break up the harsh lines the cloning left behind.

In the fourth photo I tried to use the rule of thirds. By placing my family on the one third line I think it helps to move your eye around the photo.

My concept in this photo was to capture the complimentary colors that the apples have. The brightness of the green and red made a good contrast.

In this photo I was trying to capture a monochromatic image made up of the different green vegetables. I think the vegetables add many different varieties of color within the greens.

This picture I took with the idea of capturing a complimentary color scheme which I could adjust the coloring of to make better. It didn't really work like I had planned, but I think the color and light differences make the photo interesting.

In this photo I tried to use the concept of framing. By using the isle shelves as borders I think it draws you eyes down the isle and makes the photo composition more complete.
This trunk photo I tried to use the concept of framing and color. I cropped the photo so that the vehicle frames out the groceries. Then I adjusted the color of the bags so that they were more bright than they actually are.

Finally, I took a photo of the completed list again in the macro setting. I then used the old photo filter to give it more appeal. I also adjusted the brightness of the filter to make the photo feel like the finale of the photo story.

Clone

The first picture is where I have cloned the chimney off of the house in the picture. Using the bushes and the sky I used those pieces to make the chimney disappear.

Portraits

I found the hardest part of doing a portrait is composition. Rather than the picture just being a picture of a person or people a portrait has to be balanced and correctly postioned.

Photostory Preview

I have decided that my photostory would be a trip to the grocery store. I think that I can capture all the aspect which we have learned in the semester in photos from a trip to the grocery store. I intentionally took some photos with wires and other things I want to remove using Photoshop later in them.

Dodge burn and filters

I used the dodge and burn to add light to the statues face. I couldn't seem to get the lines out of the face from the burning so after I used the dodge and burn application, I smudged the face around the edges to make it a little bit smoother.

In this photo I used the photocopy filter to adjust the shading of the picture. I had to adjust the sharpen of the image to make it visible, when it first filtered there was no visible image

In this photo I used the old photo filter. I thought it would come out more yellowed like the one in the tutorial, but it came out more like a newspaper clipping. I think that it is still interesting.

Light and color adjustments
In these two photos I made light and color adjustments. In the picture of the statue I placed a light over the statues head to give the picture a more angelic feeling. In the picture of the fountain I desatrated the color from the photo. I think it helps to accent the detail in the fountain.

Size, Crop, and Move

I have had a hard time trying to figure out how to transfer the image into my blog. Every time I tried to add the image it wouldn't allow it. It wasn't until I figured out how to export the image and finally today am able to get this up. Hopefully I will have better luck in the weeks to follow.

Landscape

I struggled this week to get good pictures with the weather being so off and on with rain. I was able to get out and get some shoots but do feel like some of them are flat.

Framing
I drove around last night looking for things to shoot that would be outside the box for this project but it was actually harder than I though it would be.

Thirds
I saw this statue and thought it would be good for this assignment as it has nice details up close and had a interesting background as well.

Monochromatic

I am not sure if the trees as the borders of the picture are too much brown for green monochromatic, but I felt they helped to shape the field.

Complementary

I found it hard to find things that had complementary colors that occurred natural. I know I could have posed something but I wanted it to look natural.

Different lights
This fountain is down the street from my house. I saw it as in the first picture and thought it would be a good subject for this project.
